How do you protect your content from getting ripped off from other websites? It is simple to protect your content – all you have to do is open a Google + account and add author status to all your articles. That way in the future if someone comes along and claims your article as his or hers, Google will punish them as it will know you are the author of the website because you claimed it first.
You don’t have to have any knowledge of HTML, as there is no messing around with tags or anything complicated. Just log into your Google + account and click the button to edit your profile. Once you have clicked this, scroll down to the bottom of the page where you see the “Contributor to” link. Be sure to click it.
As you can see from the image above, I have tied my Google + page to www.seoguelph.com , which means anytime I write an article on this website and add a simple “By Adrian Drysdale” piece of text in the article, it will look like this in Google results.
I have now claimed full ownership of all my written content so I no longer have to fear people taking my stuff and claiming it as their own.
